This is what the law says
“Where there is a need for life saving equipment, there should be lifebuoys available.”
(SRVFS 2007:5)
“A floating device to save a distressed person in the water. The rescuer can stand on land or be in the water. The life buoy is normally attached to a life line but can, in shallow waters and ice-free waters, be used without a life line. The buoy should be able to carry two persons.”
(SRVFS 2007:5)
”A life line is attached to the life buoy and is used to tow the life buoy with the distressed person ashore. The life line should be protected so it’s not damaged by sun rays. It should be around 25 meters in length.”
(SRVFS 2007:5)
The buoy keeps approximately two average sized people afloat. The 25 meter long attached life line is tucked away inside of the handle, away from damaging sun rays.
Rescue marked
